John McCormack, Broker and Principal of the JNM Company – Commercial Real Estate has over 28 years of experience in commercial real estate sales, leasing and development and has an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and master’s in business administration.  He has broad experience in urban and suburban development, and strongly believes in the multi-disciplinary and collaborative approach for projects, such as the major projects at the Uni-Kool and Boronda Meadows sub-divisions in Salinas, California.  A founding member of the Tri-County Commercial Broker Forum, John McCormack is an active member of the commercial brokerage profession and has worked in all of the diverse communities of Monterey County.   For more information on John McCormack and the JNM Company, please visit his web page at

Volunteer Work

John McCormack has been an active member of the Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce for four years.  He participated in the Chamber's review of the City of Salinas 2006 Zoning Code Implementation Review in 2007.  In 2008 he joined with Peter Kasavan and Salinas Planning   and Research Corporation (SPARC) to create the Retail and Industrial Committee for the retention and expansion of the retail and industrial businesses in Salinas.  Representin SPARC he attended the joint California Association for Economic Developers (CALED) and California Community College Conference in Monterey in April 2009.  This conference has lead to discussions with USDA for potential economic development opportunities through their Agricultural Research Services (ARS) group.

Land Sales

One of the primary focus' of the JNM Company is land development. John McCormack's extensive experience provides him with a unique perspective on land-use issues, team building and project maximization.  The most recent sale was a 5 acre parcel in Atascadero that was approved for a 62 unit town-home project.  This sale was completed in August of 2012.

Past land development includes, Sunset West, a 117 lot residential project in Watsonville in Santa Cruz County. Project responsibility included marketing and negotiating a joint venture between the land owner and a regional home builder resulting in substantial benefits to both parties.

Owner/User Properties

The JNM Company recently represented buyers for one of the best located industrial properties in Salinas of over 3 acres.  Since the buyers closed on this property in December 2012 the JNM Company has leased a portion of this property to another business.

Shopping Centers

Representing the Donahue Schriber Realty Group for thei centers in Salians, Livermore, Brentwood, Fairfield and ElSobrante, John McCormack has completed lease negotiations with Chipotle, Sports Clips, Weight Watchers, Wells Fargo Bank, Tutti-Frutti, European Wax Center, The Joint,a chiropractic place, Dell Pueblo Jewelery, BBQ's Galore, PWS Laundryland, CreAsian Vietnamese Restaurant, Chaman Kabob, Big Kahuna Sandwiches, Teriyaki House, Furniture 4 Less, East-Bay Medical Supplies, Magic Dollar, Molcasalsa Mexican Grill, Portola Cleaners and many other retailers over the past three years.

John McCormack, acting as advisor and tenant representative has represented Nothing Bundt Cakes, All the Perks Espresso Cafe and TechRestore in lease negotiations in Norther California during 2012.

Represented as a Buyer Broker, the purchase of a local non-anchored shopping center in 2004. The center is now 100% leased and the JNM Company has increased net income by 30+%.

Apartment Complexes

The JNM Company represented the buyers of a 36 unit affordable apartment complex in King City which closed in December 2012, as a short-sale.


Thanks to the efforts of the JNM Company, a new Hampton Inn & Suites is currently under-constrcution in Salinas.  John McCormack negotiated a joint venture with the land owners and the hotel developer/operator.  This 105 room, four story hotel is located at the Hwy 101 interchange at John Street.  He is currently marketing the restaurant pad at this property which can accommodate a 1,950sf drive-thru restaurant or QSR or a 2,950sf multi-tenant pad building.
